I’ve seen that Premier Pediatrics offers professional ear piercing. What should I know about scheduling an appointment?
Ear piercing is available for patients 8 years and above. Each ear is pierced with a piercing “gun” one at a time. The appointment is typically scheduled with our piercing nurse. There is a $75 charge for the appointment. This charge will not be submitted to insurance and is due at the time of the appointment.  Please call our office to schedule an appointment.

Do I need to bring a pair of earrings?
No, we have earrings available at the office. The patient may choose from surgical stainless steel or surgical stainless steel with 24k gold overlay or birthstone earrings. This pair of earrings is included in the $75 ear piercing charge. Titanium is an option for patients with specific allergies at an additional cost.

Do you offer ear piercing for adults?
No, our ear piercing service is reserved for Premier Pediatrics patients only.

How should I care for my child’s newly pierced ears?
The following information will also be provided at the patient’s ear piercing appointment:

  1. Clean front and back of earlobes 2-3 times a day with a cotton ball soaked in, ½ strength hydrogen peroxide without removing earrings. Then rotate earring studs 2-3 times.
  2. The piercing studs should not be removed for six weeks. After six weeks, the piercing studs can be removed and other post type earring may be worn. However, some type of post should be worn at all times for the first 6 months. The post should be 14K gold or 24k gold plated surgical stainless steel. CAUTION- sensitivity to metal could develop after your ears are pierced. No wire style earrings should be worn for at least 4 months after the ears have been pierced.
  3. Keep hairspray, soap, shampoo and other hair preparations away from the ear. After shampooing, the earlobes should be thoroughly rinsed with ½ strength hydrogen peroxide.
  4. Should excessive redness, irritation, itching or soreness occur at any time during the first 6 weeks, please contact our office as soon as possible.
